Ross Hathaway

Doernbecher patient Ross Hathaway, 11, got his hands on one of Nike Skateboarding’s most impressive models. The result is a radically different look on an old favorite. Introducing the Nike SB Stefan Janoski Doernbecher.

For his design, Ross, who suffers from cystic fibrosis, turned to his love of skateboarding for inspiration, not just utilizing a skate  shoe, but incorporating a design with an eye toward how it would actually look against a board. Reptile-style scales emboss the black leather side panel, while the rest of the black suede upper sports contrast speckling in several shades of purple and white. Solid-purple adorns the laces, Swoosh and inner-lining, while the translucent outsole sports a pair of lungs peering through, emblazoned with a digital rose, a nod to the nickname of Ross’s affliction (65 Roses, due to the easier pronunciation).  Proceeds from the sales will benefit the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Available only @ Fast Forward!
